Physiological and Performance Tests

Understanding your individual physiology helps better inform your training, target specific adaptations, optimise exercise intensity, training load and recovery. Getting to know your baseline fitness level will allow us to assess your progress during a training cycle and guide your program to give you the confidence that your training time is being optimised. 

At DM Performance Science we assess your unique metabolic thresholds from your breathing using the Tyme Wear smart shirt. We get lab accurate breathing data to determine at what intensity you transition from each intensity domain enabling us to set accurate training zones. We also use the Wattbike Atom, one of the worlds most accurate and leading smart bikes in order to have complete confidence in the results we obtain.   

We offer a range of performance testing options initially appropriate for cyclists and triathletes of any level or experience (we do test athletes from other sports, so if you are interested in physiological testing get in touch and we can discuss your options for your sport.).

 

After the tests are complete a detailed report of your results will be produced and we will go through them with you. From there if you are signed up for one of our support packages we will make use of the information to prescribe a tailored training program or make the necessary changes. If you are not signed up for a support package, no problem we will discuss with you how you can use the information to adapt your training.

  

Performance tests options

The below options are the standard packages we offer, however if you have specific tests or protocols that you are interested in undertaking, please get in touch.

Cycling Group

£125 Full Performance profile

This battery of tests is designed to give you a complete picture of your cycling profile. This option includes: Submaximal incremental exercise test; 3 minute all out time trial to assess maximal aerobic power; 6 seconds sprint to assess peak power output.  

To ensure the we capture the necessary data, the intial workload and the increase in workload between steps during the incremental step test will be personalised to the needs of the athlete.

Biker

£80 Submaximal Incremental exercise test

This test provides the necessary information to personalise training zones based on your unique ventilatory thresholds, ensuring you optimise your training and have confidence that you are working at the appropriate intensity.

Not only will you go home with, Heart rate, power and speed training zones, you will also gain valuable information on your pedal efficiency and left and right leg balance.
