Who am I

Dr David Macutkiewicz is a performance scientist working in high performance sport. David has a special interest in physiology and strength and conditioning, and has worked at the sharp end of British Sport since 1999, along with several years experience in higher education as an associate lecturer and researcher.

He has led the sports science and medicine support to the British Sailing Team's Podium Potential Squad, overseeing the development and implementation of an educational and development framework. David has also supported the U17 England football team during the 2011 FIFA Mexico World Cup.

Passionate about ensuring talented athletes have an opportunity to fulfil their potential, David works with Harper Performance as their Athletic Development Lead, providing accessible, relevant and sustainable performance-support programmes to some of the most disadvantaged  athletes in the world, to allow them to genuinely compete.

David has helped prepare British athletes for summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, World Championships and World Cups in a variety of sports, and led the British Sailing Team's sports science and medicine team at the London 2012 Paralympics and into the 2016 Rio Paralympics.  David worked closely with the athletes and coaches to ensure all aspects of preparation and performance were addressed.
